Family Adventure Trip — Trip Report from Tracy Moran and David Klim, who traveled to Belize with their two boys.
Peta from Custom Travel Adventures was awesome! We knew we were ready to start doing some more adventurous travel, but we were also nervous about our first big trip out of the country with both boys. I needed help and guidance and reassurance that we were making kid friendly and safe choices on where to go, where to stay and what to do. We wanted to explore the jungle and also enjoy some island time while in Belize. Peta provided several options and helped us select an ecolodge that was kid friendly and an awesome, small resort on ambergris caye where we had a huge bungalow with the amenities we wanted but in a quiet and intimate setting. There was a lot of planning that went into our trip, but Peta made it all so much easier and saved me a ton of time.
There are too many hightlights to list! Cave canoeing, night hiking, horseback riding in the jungle and evening inner-tubing down the river that ran through the lodge – we were literally the only ones on the river each time! – the iguana project and Mayan ruins were also amazing. Snorkeling as a family during our time on the island was definitely a highlight. Getting to know the kind, knowledgable and friendly people of Belize made it hard to go home!
